Dernier Cri announces Second Nature, the gallery's second exhibition. Opening to the public on Friday, March 27th, this show brings together new work by artists and designers who arrived at their practice after first pursuing careers in other fields-from owning an independent record shop and working at Apple in the early days of iTunes to careers in e-commerce merchandising, fashion photography, executive search, and public relations. Though their paths to the studio were unconventional, their work emerged not as a departure but as a natural evolution.

"The exhibition reflects the idea that creative life rarely follows a straight line," explains gallery founder Michael McGraw. "Each artist took a different route to arrive here, yet all share a moment of clarity: the recognition that making was not simply an interest, but a calling. In these objects, that realization becomes tangible-an expression of something long present, now embraced as second nature."

Participating artists: Windy Chien, Marit Harte, Leah Kaplan, Todd Marshard, Jessie Nelson, and Tania Whalen.

Second Nature will be on view at Dernier Cri from March 27th - April 23rd, 2026.
