BLACK on BLACK explores using a single color not as paint, but as form. Varietal hues are combined with the play of density and transparency while experimenting with shape and form. Each block is a mini-sculpture that sets the stage for a canvas of exploration. BLACK on BLACK is made up of 5” x 5’ panels, which are thought of as a vertical line of speech, with the blackest panels as pauses in a sentence.
