    Founded by longtime design publicist Michael McGraw, New York City's Dernier Cri approaches its program through a distinctly editorial lens. With a background in communications for architects and interior designers, McGraw has honed his sensibility not only to visual impact, but to the narratives that animate great design - stories of inspiration, material, process, and purpose. By highlighting these layers, the gallery emphasizes the people behind the work: the artists and designers whose unique lived experiences inform every creation.

     

    From sculptural furniture to boundary-pushing artworks, each object reflects a curated intensity - and sometimes, a kind of beauty that is felt before it is fully understood. McGraw seeks work that elicits an emotional response: delight, surprise, or wonder - or simply provokes reflection and dialogue.

     

    Dernier Cri  showcases talent that shapes how we live, collect, and express ourselves - at home. With a curatorial emphasis on the rare and sometimes radical, the gallery champions work that bridges aesthetic daring with an unmistakably editorial point of view. 

     

    Dernier Cri will open in New York City on January 29th, 2026.

    As the founder of Dernier Cri, Michael McGraw operates at the intersection of aesthetics and storytelling — a space he knows intimately. For nearly two decades, McGraw has served as a publicist to some of the most celebrated design talents of our time, helping shape their public personas through the stories that surround their work.

     

    That same narrative sensibility now defines his curatorial vision. Every object on view at Dernier Cri is selected not just for its visual impact, but for the story it tells — or the one it invites. McGraw seeks the why behind the what: pieces with purpose, emotional charge, or cultural resonance.

     

    His eye has been honed through years of immersion in editorial design culture — poring over what gets published and what gets passed over. The questions that guide him remain constant: What makes a work, click? What makes an interior sing? What makes a space stick in the memory?

     

    At Dernier Cri, McGraw seeks to help designers conjure interiors that captivate — by giving platform to some of the most compelling and thought-provoking art and design being made today.
